Companies have been practicing philanthropy for many years, but while philanthropy will bring many benefits to the company, it is the end result of the positive change they make within their community that is the greatest benefit. One organization that brings companies together to benefit their local community is the Canadian Progress Club. This club was founded in 1922 in Toronto and has now grown into over 30 clubs across Canada. Their mission statement is "Enhancing the quality of life of all Canadians, through community service, in the spirit of fellowship". Across Canada the Canadian Progress Club raises over $2,000,000 annually to contribute to the Canadian Special Olympics and other local charities.

The Canadian Progress Club – Regina Centre was established in 1987. Their objective was "to provide hands-on involvement in charitable activities, help and maintain strong communities, make new friends and have some fun". The Regina Centre has helped with many different charities since 1987. Currently the charities that they are working closely with are the Camp Circle O'Friends, Canadian Cancer Society, Inner-City Schools Lunch Program, Regina Therapeutic Riding Association, Raise a Reader and the Pediatric Outpatient Unit at the Regina General Hospital.

Melcher Studios is a proud member of the Regina Centre and has helped the Canadian Progress Club raise money for many charities through their events they host annually. In July the Regina Centre hosts the Plywood Cup which consists of teams of four who have to build a boat to cross the Wascana Lake in Regina, but the supplies they must use are limited, making it a great challenge! The funds raised for this event are donated to the Raise a Reader Program and the Pediatric Outpatient Unit. Another extremely fun event they host is the Charity Auction and Dinner. The money raised at the live and silent auction goes towards the Camp Circle O'Friends, which is a fantastic summer camp for children who have had their lives forever changed by cancer.
