Coming soon to the VR Hub: Glucose Monitoring & Insulin Injection Training, developed in partnership with Dryden–Sioux Lookout Community Services.
Support staff working with individuals who require insulin therapy face a real training gap. The procedure is high-consequence but not high-frequency: someone might only need to do it a few times a month, which makes it hard to build and keep confidence. VR lets learners repeat the full workflow as many times as they need, with no risk to the person they support.
What the module covers
- Proper hygiene and preparation
- Glucose monitoring: device use, reading interpretation, documentation
- Insulin administration: dosing, injection technique, site rotation
- Person-centered care throughout the interaction
- Documentation and handoff
The scenario was built directly from Dryden–Sioux Lookout's approved organizational procedures, so learners are practicing exactly what they'll be expected to do on the job. Nothing generic, nothing translated from a textbook.
This is what shared simulation development looks like: one organization contributes their approved procedure, and every subscribing organization gets a training module that reflects real, current practice.
